We will provide you* with a certificate in a small gift box that you can give to the recipient as a present. We can also provide you with a special gift to give with the certificate.
Plant a Baobab
|
£5 |
The baobab is a magical tree that grows within a small belt across southern Africa. We have some magnificent specimens at Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve. We need to protect them for the future and plant more for the future.
We will grow a baobab from seed and plant it in Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve just for you.

Keep a Kudu Safe
|
£10 |
The kudu is an antelope with magnificent horns. It is found from South Africa to Ethiopia, and, we have several small herds at Mwabvi.
Kudu tend to wander outside the reserve for water in the dry months, and are killed by villagers when they destroy crops. Your sponsorship will ensure that the kudu have access to a permanent water supply inside Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve and can live safely.

Protect a Warthog
|

Interesting Fact: They are the largest burrowing animals in the world, and they back into their burrows at night. This keeps their tusks pointed outward for defensive purposes.
We have warthogs at Mwabvi and would like more! Your sponsorship will help us remove snares and help warthogs breed safely within Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve.

Safeguard the Leopard!
|
£25 |
We have leopard at Mwabvi, but they are very elusive! Their paw prints are seen regularly and the sandstone outcrops and branching trees are ideal habitats for them.
Your sponsorship will ensure that the leopards can continue to live at Mwabvi by protecting their habitat – reducing the loss of larger trees and making sure that a wildlife protection zone is created inside the reserve area. |
Bring Back the Rhino
|
£250
|
We need to fence the reserve to protect the animal population, prevent poaching, and more importantly, so that we can reintroduce big game, like the black rhino, that used to live here.
For £250, you can sponsor a whole 50 metre length and we will put your name on a plaque and send you a photo of your fence panels! |
Finance a Forest |
£25 |
When there is a fire on the Reserve, the big trees may survive, but many of the seedlings are lost and the next generation of trees are in danger.
Help to prevent this great loss of pristine wilderness by paying for 50 mopane seedlings to be planted. Many of them will reach 400 years of age – your legacy to Mwabvi. |
Provide Education Materials for Local School Children
|
£40 |
PAW supports an orphanage outside the Reserve near our base. There are currently around 56 children at the orphanage, and £40 will be enough to supply every new child with books. |
Give English Lessons
|
£25 |
Our team at Mwabvi includes at least 30 people from neighboring villages at any one time, and sometimes more.
They may have been to primary school, but secondary school is expensive and very few can speak English, the language that can open up so many opportunities for them.
For £25, we can arrange for them to travel to Bangula to have English lessons with a local teacher, helping them to a better life and also helping the local teacher supplement a very small income.
Once they have learnt English, they can lead groups of tourists safely, or work with a volunteer, sell local crafts for their neighbours, and of course, become a game scout with further training. |
Send a Surprise
|
£75 |
We are given many useful things in the UK for free, but shipping is expensive.
If you sponsor a 120 x 60 x 60 cm box, we will be able to send 20 kg of things we need to maintain the reserve*. Sending over spare parts and tools, for instance, will help us maintain equipment and vehicles, so we can get to fires faster, or save animals caught in traps before they die!
We also send over clothes and education materials for the orphan school next to the reserve, training materials, old IT equipment, and football kits.
*To protect an already fragile economy, we don’t send over things that can be purchased in Malawi at reasonable cost. |
Protect the Little 5
|
£50 |
While big animals are fun to look at, don’t forget the small animals, which are just as special as their Big 5 counterparts. The Little 5: buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, rhino beetle, and ant lion, need to be protected just as much as the big animals, and we have most of them at Mwabvi.
When you sponsor the Little 5, you are helping us provide a safe home for the small animals that live in Mwabvi by making sure we protect the undergrowth and shrub habitats. |
Move an Elephant
|
£100 |
Through our conservation work, we are providing protection for the range of animals that have survived at Mwabvi.
By creating the Wildlife Protection Zone, we are also planning to translocate animals to Mwabvi. Animals that used to live here, like the Black Rhino, Elephant and Blue Wildebeest. The animals are available from other reserves in Africa, but the cost of transporting them is enormous.
Your sponsorship will help us bring them back to Mwabvi and provide them with a safe home. The next translocation will be mid 2010. |
Rent an Acre!
|
£100 |
Well, save an area bigger than the size of a football pitch!
Ok, our reserve isn’t quite as flat as Wembley, but we have to work just as hard to maintain it in its pristine state. We are constantly restocking the reserve with seedlings of trees such as acacia, mopane and baobab. We’re checking for and removing snares left by poachers and we’re aiming to monitor the animal and plant life in every corner of the reserve using GPS and up-to-date IT kit.
We will send you the GPS coordinates and a photo of your exclusive acre. |
On Your Bike!
|
£50 |
People in southern Malawi aspire to a bike!
Workers can use the bikes to check the water pumps are working, to send messages about poaching, to get around the reserve, and to get home.
Buy one of our workers a bike and you save him time and energy, save us fuel and help the local bike businesses. |
* We will post the certificate within 3-5 business days after the payment has cleared. We can e-mail the certificate for you to print at home; please, just leave us a comment when you order.
