Walk for Water

Walk for Water is a fundraising campaign organised by PAW.  Our aim is to raise funds to provide a safe water supply to Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve and its surrounding communities. We have been 'walking for water' in the North West of England since 2007.

In 2010, Walk for Water went national to help us complete our urgently needed water projects. In September ten stalwarts did a short but strenuous trek around the hills of Eyam, and raised £200 - many thanks t Kate, Dave and Pauline for all their hard work.

Walk For Water 2011

The next walk is planned for September 2011 and will be a circumperambulation of Rudyard Lake which is a more or less level 7.5km. A longer version will be organised for the hardy walkers if requested.

You can register through our Just Giving page. We ask for a small donation, say £10 per adult, or £15 per family, and encourage everyone to raise more through sponsorship, just go to http://www.justgiving.com/Walk-for-Water-2010 to make your donation. We will email you back with more details and an information pack.

How do We Spend the Money We Raise Walking for Water?

We work with the people around the reserve to:

  • Agree the best locations for a water supply
  • Pay for the hire of equipment & personnel to install boreholes
  • Provide pipes & electric pumps and maintain them
  • Provide a supply of fresh, clean water where it is needed most!
