Three new lion cubs are on their way to Mwabvi

We were all devastated by the sudden and untimely death of Moran our male lion. However, we now have some good news. Barry and Adele have been in contact with Kevin Richardson, the man known as "The Lion Whisperer ", who runs the Lion Kingdom , a sanctuary for over 50 big cats just outside Johannesburg and whose videos on uTube have been enchanting people the world over.

Sanka

He was extremely enthusiastic about the work that we are doing at Mwabvi, and, more than that, told us that as luck would have it he had recently had an unplanned addition to his family of around 56 lions - three lovely young cubs. The cubs, named Sanka, Sya and Shiro, are two months old, and Kevin is delighted to donate them to Mwabvi - absolutely free.  (The big male with the dark mane being stroked by Kevin in the video linked above is the father of our three newcomers.)

We do still have to arrange and pay for transport, as well as get CITES permits and do all the paperwork, but if all goes according to plan Amayi should be meeting her three new playmates sometime in May. Watch this space.

Shiro

As well as the transport costs, our three new babies will need lots of care and plenty of food (a young lion needs 5Kg of fresh meat every day) as well as special milk formula and Predator Powder, which is vitamin and mineral substitute. So if you would like to help us by sponsoring the new lion cubs please get in touch , or donate online
